Description
Would love to see this set go to a good home, need it out of my way. Make a decent offer!
Here’s a chance to own a piece of Appalachian history! I’m selling a 1910s Koken Barber Chair with child booster seat and an antique Koken Barber pole. I got these items from the Hatfield–McCoy trail. They were originally in the Hamilton Barber Shop in Blackberry,WV which is where Devil Anse Hatfield and his family were from.
Given the age of these items, they all in good shape. The barber pole has an iron mounting bracket and is very sturdy. It has an electric motor and worked fine when it was unhooked. The barber chair is complete, including the 4 razor strops that go with it- with the mounts that came with the chair. The hydraulics work well but I’m sure the fluid could be changed (uses transmission fluid). The upholstery has been redone. Serial numbers are visible on the chair and barber pole, the child seat has the original tag.
These are rare items and the history of them is irreplaceable. I’m asking $2500 obo for the complete set, which also includes a letter from the owner of Hamilton Barber shop making an inquiry to the Koken Manufacturing Company.
Must be picked up!
